A look back on the wedding day for Christine & Alex from Dave McIntosh Photographics, Baltimore wedding photography and videography.
The wedding and reception was at Richland Golf Club on September 21, 2019. I had never photographed at Richland Golf Club, so I arrived a little early with Dan the videographer. The location is a great layout for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony location is behind the clubhouse in a nice area with a gorgeous view of the course. Another plus was we could easily access the second story to get high angle shots of the ceremony, both photos and a tripod for video.
I did not have an engagement photography session with Christine and Alex, but they were extremely easy to read and lead. I could immediately sense they wanted great photos, and they were happy to do whatever I thought was best to achieve that goal.
The area of the Club where the ladies were having their final preparations is small with no natural light and with the makeup artists taking up much of the space, I decided to have Christine get into her dress with her mother’s help in the clubhouse ballroom. Getting into the dress in a ballroom is a bit unusual, but it had the best visuals and plenty of space for us to work.
Christine and Alex decided they were not going to see each other for a first look. I took separate group shots of the guys and ladies on the balcony. Christine loved the view and I liked that I could control the lighting there.
The ceremony was absolutely breathtaking, and Christine and Alex exchanged personal vows during golden hour. While their families come from different backgrounds, Christine and Alex clearly are madly in love with each other and their families will do anything to support them.
After the ceremony, we took the family group photos, then headed out on the golf course for portraits of Christine and Alex. We ran out of daylight about halfway through the session, so Dan the videographer became Dan my lighting assistant. Thank you Dan! I took a couple of creative photos, and we headed back to the clubhouse for the reception.
The reception was a huge celebration with non-stop dancing. I couldn’t stop laughing when Alex put on a safety vest, helmet and head lamp to safely remove the garter. I really enjoyed spending the day with Christine & Alex and I look forward to watching them grow together.
